During my freshman year in college I discovered Woody Allen’s movie Zelig. If you are not familiar, it is about a man that transforms himself into whomever he is around. A group of psychiatrists start working with him to help understand the phenomenon and then help him develop his own identity. I completely identified with that movie because it was an apt description on my own experience and mirroring activities. When I was formally diagnosed in my 40’s and started really digging into ADHD, there were so many “aha” moments as I realized that these strategies and survival techniques I developed were directly-related to my operating system. Our features are neurotypical bugs but that does not make them any less powerful in their own ways. I have really enjoyed reading your posts and insights.
